I'm boiling some crawfish at the house this weekend. I called about prices and of course they can't quote me the prices for Saturday, however today's prices are:

$2 small, $3 medium, and $3.50 large per pound. This is the first time I've been quoted for 3 different types of sacks - normally I thought it was just regular or select.

Nevertheless, do these prices seem reasonable?

That's BS, the price isn't going to change between now and Saturday.

I don't know what the retail markup there is but that seems high. Call Blue Water Seafod or Cajun Gourmet in Sugarland.

you know anyone in the North Houston area?

ETA: OK, the bluewater place is in Spring. They're quoting $2.85 for a normal sack.

$2.50 delivered seems like a pretty good deal. Assuming you've used them before?

It's been a couple of seasons as I don't live in Houston anymore. I boiled their crawfish every Saturday for several weeks for a friends bar. I never dealt with the logistic or the price just the product. We never did less then 500 lbs and they were always there waiting 1st thing in the morning. Never a complaint with them. I've also used Cajun Gourmet b/c they delivered to the bar across the street from my house and I'd just get the owner to add me a sack to his order. Both seemed to be good options for Houston unless you want to make a road trip.

know a lot of people get dead crawfish from HEB, big stores like that don't really know how to keep crawfish alive very long

just to give you an idea of the markup, farmers are getting $1.25 for crawfish right now

Fin, who else are you wholesaling to? Your place in Spring seems pricey.
