If you want to be with someone your entire life, then be with them. Hell call it a marriage. You just won't get the tax benefits. If you are against government influence into private lives then you should be all about keeping them out of a relationship between 2 or more parties no matter what their genders or sexual orientations are. And rights are given by God, not government. When people start believing that their rights are given and taken by their government, then they truly have loss any sense of freedom they may have had.

I agree... I think because we live with so much Government that issues so many public safety laws people live inside the bubble of "government" thinking, It's like we live in a world where you must get a permit to do anything

An error? There were not 8 counties in favor. Perhaps the fellow putting your cartoon together himself comes from one of those other stupid areas "living in the past"? OTOH, what to make of your post? It's inductive reasoning attempting to justify mindless generalization. 61%-39% against Civil Unions in a state which has elected 2 GOP governors since the 19th century. Equates to backlash, not ignorance.

Dems hate gays in NC. Exactly as I've suspected all along.

Yeah, the whole PC thing we aren't supposed to say about AIDS still is true to some extent. Unrelated, but I want to know how well known that the ammendment would ban CUs as well. I think way more people support that than gay marriage. Seems harsh to ban that.

So you're cool with a 40 year old man "marrying" and 13 year old girl? I mean as long as it consensual and all. Multiple wives ok, too?

13 years old is not a consenting adult. What's wrong with multiple wives?

In what state is a 13 year old girl considered capable of legal consent to enter any contract?

I don't have a problem with this at all, quite frankly. Why a man would want multiple wives in the first place... is a complete different discussion however.

None that I know of at this time! but hey how can the state tell two people who love each other they can't get married. i mean that's not right is it? typical liberal crap. i want it this way for this circumstance, but not for this other. kind of like hell yeah kill those babies, but let's save Tookie and all the other cold-blooded killers.

Do you foresee any state making an exception for just marriage? Or are you saying they would allow 13 year old kids to enter into any legal contract they wish?

Why do you think the state should be involved in anyone's relationship for any reason at all? They shouldn't. Gays just want their lifestyle choice to be be viewed as some sort of noble decision ad they want a tax handout. That's that this basically boils down to. What's worse is these militant gays are the ones that are the face of homosexuality rather than the ones who just want to live in peace and don't care if the state or anyone else likes or acknowledges their relationship. They just want to be with who makes them happy.

No, the voters spoke out about specific contractual rights, i.e. who can form a marriage contract.

I know you're being sarcastic with this post, but there is nothing in a marriage contract about love. Nor should there be. Love is not a requirement for a civil marriage to take place.

Why should eligibility for a marriage contract be decided by voters?
