Bill Romanowski defends the Saints/Vilma

On The Herd this morning he said that if you are gonna suspend Vilma then he (Romanowski) should have been suspended every game he played.
Quotes:
"If you dug deep enough, you could find something like this, on some kind of a level with every single team in the NFL."
"I really do believe that this is all blown out of proportion."
"There is no wrong here."
"This is an instance of a commissioner coming down and thinking he he can just do whatever he wants."
"Every game I played in. Every coach I ever had, when I played the game of football, it was about knocking the living crap out of somebody, taking someone's head off and beating people with your will."
"Talk about bounties and stuff like that really don't mean anything to me other than there are rules. All these things people use to motivate should just stay in the locker room."

Collin has been backing the punishment and he didn't say a word the entire time. Awesome!!

Wish he would have said something to piss Romanowski off so he'd knock his head off. That would have been worth actually paying attention to The Herd.
Notice all the defensive players are saying the same thing. If you play defense from peewee league on up you're told to knock the opposing team's players out.
Just looking at college teams with the helmet stickers, you think they don't get those stickers out of recognition for big hits?
This whole "bounty" thing is a complete joke. It just needs to go away, it's embarassing to the sport of football that people are crying about hits that were no different than any other team's hits. They pay defenders millions of dollars to hit, yet a few thousand here and there amongst teamates is this big of a deal?

I never liked him as a player, but he makes legit points.

Who better to talk about the rewards of playing dirty in the NFL? He had a really long career with limited physical talent, maybe it was because he was dirty?

Cowherd was speechless and cut him off "to go to a break". I was dying laughing.
The more and more that this bounty bs progresses, the more and more I'm buying into the fact that maybe the entire thing is bogus.
At first I figured, well hell maybe something was going on and we are going to get nailed for it. Now, after all the players making statements and seeing more and more reports, it seems the lack of evidence is even more evident than it was in the beginning.
I hope we bust Goodell's arse.

Bill Romanowski was an aggressive player not a dirty one. And your statement just means that Bill and others did everything the Saints are being punished for.

It did...some little weasel recorded it and felt it was his obligation to share it with the world.

Bill Romanowski
An illegal hit in football is never fun, but who spits in an opponent's face? That's just downright dirty. Linebacker Bill Romanowski crossed that line in 1997 when he and J.J. Stokes got into it. Romanowski had more dirty plays during his career with the 49ers, Eagles, Broncos and Raiders. He was ejected from a game for kicking fullback Larry Centers in the head, fined for helmet-to-helmet contact that left quarterback Kerry Collins with a broken jaw, fined for three illegal hits and a punch to the Chiefs’ Tony Gonzalez, and fined for throwing a football below the belt of Bryan Cox. It didn’t end with his opponents; Romanowski also attacked and injured his own teammate Marcus Williams during a scrimmage. He ripped off his helmet and punched him in the eye. (AP Photo/Ed Reinke)
He was just misunderstood.
