No shite. My truck is the same age. I would be royally pissed and upset I got a $5500 estimate to fix it.

ETA: But I've got a Duramax!

Mark Valiollahi at University Car Care (right off of LSU campus). Probably the best diesel guy in BR, and without a doubt the most honest you'll meet.

I shoulda done head studs after the programmer, but didn't have the $3500. Regretting it now b/c the trip to Coy's for disassembly/assembly cost $3000, and the work at TNT is $5500.

Need cab taken off to do the work. Doubtful he can do all of that. Most smaller shops(Firestone/Goodyear) won't work on new diesels

Man, I hate arguing how fast it is on the OT when I am driving a Tahoe right now. I actually had a bad dream about it being broken two days after it went downhill fast

Absolutely. He said it wouldn't even run if I didn't spend the $13k. A whole new motor is fricking $17k installed. I just wanted it out of there. His answer to me arguing about the price was immediately, "Well, we can just hold onto your truck and see where it goes in court. In the end, you are still gonna have to pay me the $3k, and I get to keep your truck for that 6 months"

I would rather not do business at a place like that, so I paid up with $100 bills and got it towed that same day.

The guys at TNT knew about all of the recalls on it, and even pulled an Oasis report from a Ford dealership to see what had/hadn't been done in the past. The only bad thing is that they don't work on transmissions. I kinda wanted to check out my clutches because it is only $650 to replace them, but they said they don't have anyone certified to do it. I was much happier with that than some idiot trying to wing it. Oh yeah, they don't have a dyno anymore
