Does anyone have a clip of Jones "leaving" too early from last night?

Terrible call, but so was the "balk" call before that. As it ended up, it wouldn't have mattered what base he was on. But yeah, WTF was that ump doing? How do you make that call?

that ump was fricking asleep anyway. the inning before when the home plate umpire asked for help he didn't know what the frick was going on.

when Jones was called out I was SHOCKED. I thought he actually got a LATE start on 3rd base.

I was at the game sitting about the 3rd base dugout. Was purposely watching the tag up. Terrible call. But its tough getting a decent crew for a midweek game.

1st base ump was a moron. Called a ball fair for Tulane that was actually about 3 feet foul which resulted in a triple.

That guy was clueless. The Tulane hitter tried to check his swing and the home plate ump called it a ball. Ross got him to appeal to the 1st base ump, and when the ump pointed to 1st the guy puts his hand to his ear. When the home plate ump pointed to him again, the guy puts his hand to his ear again. Finally he realizes that they want to know if the batter checked his swing and he emphatically gives the safe sign.

BTW, on the tag up play by Jones, why was the call even made by the 1st base ump? It would seem to me that the 3rd base ump would have been able to see the catch and the tag in his field of vision, as the ball was caught in right center.

yea, I think that ball was fair after seeing the replay on CST.

After the replay on CST, Jones didnt leave early. His momentum shifted and he started on his way to 3rd before it was caught, but his foot stayed on the bag until it was caught. He blew that call.

I'd really like to see this myself. Will CST be replaying the game during the day today (they seem to do something like that fairly often)?

He made the right call. The ball landed about half a foot inside the line. Our seats were right where it happened.
