The whole thing is kind of amazing that someone could get away with this in this age
of social media.
I think this age of social media is exactly why and how someone could get away with this. The mainstream media today is a joke because they've allowed social media to be a major conduit.

What is interesting is when I was trying to explain this story to my roommates it was almost impossible to tell. Mostly because it really is a non story. I mean it just really is not a big deal to the average person. But to people like us it is completely fascinating how someone could do all of this stuff and no one ever see her. She just sounds like a scam artist who happens to be in to sports.

but this story has nothing to do with social media, really
she got a following on covers.com
covers.com allowed her to write a piece. it was popular. ESPN.com (NOT the network ESPN) noticed and signed her to a freelance deal
where does social media come into play?
when did Page2 on ESPN.com become "mainstream media" ?
