Hate to tell you this, but your roommate is one ugly dude.

A few highlights from the trip besides my buddies double:

- watching a black bear feed on the side of a mountain for about 45 minutes. He was only a couple hundred yards from camp at dark. We built a big fire that night

- watching a Bald Eagle dive bomb a group of divers in the mountain lake

- hearing 12-14 gobblers go off in every direction while hunting a valley one morning

- listening to a gobbler sound off probably close to 200 times about 150 yards from camp one evening.

- seeing close to 50 elk during the trip

- finding a 5x5 elk shed

Awesome, so what's your story? Why didn't you kill. Also your 5th pic( the one taken at water level) I think you got a yeti in the top left of the pic.

Birds just would not cooperate. Had a couple hang up a few times right out of range, and the others would gobble on the roost, and then would shut up once they flew down. We were always on turkeys, just could not get on the right one.

Where were the GDCK? You know they were out there. Waiting. The only thing worse than the ones you see are the ones you don't see

Sorry to hear you didn't get your birds, but you certainly had a beautiful landscape to enjoy. Those SW Merriams are beautiful. I leave tomorrow for TN and OK. Will have a report when I return.
