quote: Are there any fish in this river? Bream, saccalait, cats, etc? I can set out yo-yos, trot lines, and catch any fish on a pole. Does anyone have any pointers on some weekend fishing that would include an ice chest of beer and easy fishing?
When I was younger we put out box traps and cheese for blue cat and trot lines as well. You can catch bass but most are small and you can catch all the perch and catfish you want.

he means when you wade a river you MUST travel north (or against the flow) because you're walking in running water. Otherwise, the fish will know your'e coming because you would be disturbing the water before you get to the fish.
wading downstream significantly limits your ability to catch fish.
If you normally catch 30-40 walking upstream, you might catch 5-10 walking downstream in the same exact stretch.
