I laugh at the self righteous dock owners who place 'NO WAKE' signs on their docks that are outside of the LDWF no wake zones.

Attention asshat(s): you have zero authority to post the signs outside of the zones and I have zero responsibility to adhere to your self righteous signage.

Sorry you're too poor to buy a lift for your giant pleasure boat.

We used to vacation up where that story took place.

It would be super easy to vanish up in that part of Michigan. Lots of weird locals too.

I don't know what you want me to tell you, but your boat is still on plane at that speed. At higher speeds, the drag on the water IS higher, thus more kinetic energy is being converted to wake. You may plane a little higher, but not much.
@ this dumbass comment. Trying to sound smart

Kinetic energy is irrelevant. Potential energy is what you need to be talking about. A boat going 30 displaces more water, therefore adding more wave height (potential energy) to the wake..

Stupid response is stupid

I know that. Just was saying that a bass boat at 70 seems to make no wake when youre in it because its so far back.

I know slowing down and getting back up makes a huge wake at two points, but if you drop it down hard and get back up asap it isnt bad an you dont have to worry about crashing the dude fishing and killing everybody if your steering goes out at the wrong time or something. Safety is more important than wakes.

Its also a simple fact that people will get mad when you blow by them in south LA, so dont do it for your own good. Save yourself some potential bullshite at the launch and on the water.
Yeah, well I just don't agree with any of this. I've been passed at 70 many, many times. I know what that wake looks like. I refuse to cave to ignorance.

I've always stopped for other fisherman on the water...and i often wave other fisherman through when i'm fishing bc most ppl don't know how to come down all the way before they pass you...i understand what ya'll are saying about courtesy and respect, but if it is not a posted no-wake zone or there is no speed limit, you do not have to stop...and the asshat on the dock does not have the right to throw shite at you bc he is mad and angry at the "big fast bass boats"

The formation of wakes is a pretty complicated fluids problem. Assload of variables involved.

An allison running 115 on the skeg will still make more wake than a 35' scarab idling.

When you blow by me in a canal, im not mad because of your wake. Im made because if you lost control of your boat you would kill me.

I don't blow by anyone in a canal unless they wave me by... Then I get on top end to throw a small wake. And expect the same when I wave someone by.

We don't have cable steering...

no. It's really not. And with A LOT of years of experience on the water I can tell you you're wrong on the 30 vs 60mph argument

It's pretty gentle. Besides, for every 1 boater who actually idles, you have 7 who think they are at idle and are producing small craft advisories.

I said idle vs 115

112 mph difference.

And i hope you stub a toe today for dogging on me not having hydro steering

I would rather wave people by if possible bc they slow down entirely too late. Plus I dont want em to see me catch a fish or see what I'm throwing

We were telling jester his argument was invalid. Idle throws no wake... If they idle. Most of the time there is gas involved and I get the huge waves from them slowing down. But it IS safer... If you ignore that moment when there is 20' of boat blocking your sight when it's coming off plane
