Your most cherished LSU sports moment...

Being almost 57 years old, I have many but I have to say it has to be my first LSU game. 1964 Sugar Bowl. The old Tulane Stadium. LSU vs. Syracuse. A cold, brisk, windy, bright sunshine day. Walked out the portal in the North End Zone and saw a sea of Orange on the East Side and sea of Purple and Gold on the West. That image will be embedded in my memory forever.

Hodson to Fuller - the Earthquake game 1988. I Was in Tiger Stadium for that one. Close second - the eleven times I have been in the stadium to see LSU beat Alabama.

LSU vs Georgia 2003 when Skyler Green made the TD catch. I walked into that game so drunk and was sober after half time because the game was that damn good.

Warren Morrris' homerun
'01 SEC Title Game...there was a time when I wondered if we'd ever play in a BCS game
'03 NC Game...never thought I'd see it in my lifetime.

'03 LSU v. UGA regular season game and '03 BCS CG. Lot of it has to do with me attending LSU at the time and just being in disbelief at what LSU did that year.

The 93 Bama game. Living in Mobile at the time, 'when pigs fly' game was 24/7. LSU ended the Tides 31 game unbeaten streak and of course the next day headline of "Pigs are flying" was perfect. 88 AU and 97 UF are close contenders.

Twas the fall of '79 a somewhat balmy but clear day as I recall. Taking the day of work, I had my long awaited plans laid out before me, With a pocket full of cash I headed up along the Mississippi to the concrete bastion that is now the epicenter of college football. 5 hours before game time I surely would be able to obtain the coveted piece of paper that would allow me in to watch what was building up to be the apex in the world of college football. Found a parking spot, got my 1 ticket sign, and proceeded toward the hill. No luck on the way, getting close to the stadium realized this may be more difficult than ever before, acquiring a ticket was never a problem. I swept wide to the right toward the south end zone . Only hours to go , panic is setting in. A thousand signs and hands in the air, where are they coming from. Time to punt and get back to the parking areas. More hands and signs, back to the stadium. Game is starting, still outside the north end zone. Game on. Still trying. The cacophony of cheers is flowing out of the stadium like the water down the Mississippi. The din from the crowd is deafening even from outside. If the old structure can handle this, nothing could bring it down. Half way through the 1st quarter, defeat. Back to the car to listen on the radio. I left it all on the campus that day. I played my best game and lost. A bad call finished me off. Maybe this will be the get even year. USC sons of bitches.

Has to be 2007 Florida when the Stanford USC score was announced. Was the loudest I've ever heard a stadium in my life. I thought the stadium would fall apart. Best 80 buks ever spent to sit by myself next to a fat LSU lady and an annoying gator lady.

My personal two most cherished are:
September 5, 1981 - first time I marched in Pre-Game as a member of the Golden Band from Tigerland. Completely overwhelmed and scared shitless.
November 29, 1986 - last time I marched in Pre-Game in Tiger Stadium as a member of the Golden Band from Tigerland. Tears rolled down my cheeks knowing it was the last time and I tried to soak up every tiny bit of detail.

Being 65 years old now(!!!)and being an avid Tiger Fan since I was 11 years old and began listing to LSU games on the radio w/J.C. Politz announcing, I can truly say with the '03 NC game winding down and when Donnie Jones got the punt off and hearing Doug Moreau said, "It's over". This realization that in those last 45 years since the '58 championship, my hopes for the Tigers had finally come true...think about it...45 years later. However, the Morris homerun runs a close second!!!
