If we finish with a better SEC record, a potential matchup in the SEC tourney vs. Florida could determine the national seed. the committee absolutely looks at the head to head and would likely reward us in the event of deciding between the 2 schools. (LSU up 2-1 pre-tourney obviously)

Wouldn't you think that out of 6 polls at least two would agree on our ranking?

I'd venture a guess that the SECw champ will get a national seed. Especially if that champ is LSU with a 20 win regular season and a win or two in Hoover. Our road SEC schedule has been brutal.

I tend to agree with this. If the above holds true, UK, UF, and USCe will have to fight it out...and whoever wins the East will have the upper hand in getting the SEC's 2nd Top 8 seed IMO

The issue with SCAR is whether the NCAA wants to give them a super regional while UNC and UK get them too.

UF & FSU will almost definitely get national seeds.

UK, Baylor & UCLA will probably get them too.

The fight for the remaining 3 slots might be among UNC, SCAR, LSU, & Stanford ... and you never know how the committee will feel about Purdue.

You might get pairings like this...

Miami --> #1 UF
UCF --> #2 FSU
Purdue --> #3 UK
Arkie/TAMU --> #4 Baylor
CSF/AZ --> #5 UCLA
Rice/NMSU --> #6 LSU
SCAR/NCSU --> #7 UNC
Oregon/Ole Miss --> #8 Stanford

I'm all about these rankings. The pollsters are actually showing us some love.

Yeah, Purdue is the wild card. You gotta know that the NCAA is JIMPing to give a super to a midwest team. They also like to have a couple out west if possible so Stanford is mos def in play.

That shows me they really respect Kentucky. That team is very good.

Collegiate Baseball was the first poll to jump on their bandwagon.

unless Florida drops a series to a team outside Kentucky, they're going to get a national seed. Outside their SEC schedule, they've also won 2/3 against Fullerton and won all 3 games against Florida State. It's really annoying that they weren't penalized losing 2/3 to LSU and Ole Miss in back to back weeks, but it is what it is. I honestly think kentucky is being disrespected. Ok, so their OOC schedule is pathetic, but if you sweep South Carolina, take 2/3 from Ole Miss, 2/3 from LSU, 2/3 from Arkansas, and 2/3 from UGA and don't lose any games OOC, you should not be ranked below any teams in your conference when you lead the conference. The polls that have Florida higher than kentucky are being ignorant. It will work itself out when they play, but as of right now it's absurd.

Anothe thing about Florida is that outside their midweek win over FSU a couple weeks ago, all their good OOC wins came in the first couple weeks of the season. They committee didn't give us any credit for sweeping Fullerton early in the season last year, but they're giving Florida all the credit in the world for sweeping them in week 1. Makes no logical sense, but I guess there's no logic when it comes to baseball tournament selections when you can finish #21 in the RPI and get left out or get left out in 2005 for a team that you beat 2/3, finished with a better conference record, and made the SECT over. I know the predictions come from non-official services, but they've been pretty accurate in the past.

don't know why they continue to do this. the last midwest team to make the CWS was Nebraska in 2005 when PM was the coach. The last midwest team to win the CWS was Ohio St in the 60s. Those teams just flat out aren't as good as the southern and western teams, regardless of their record on paper. Their fans could also give a rats arse about baseball.
