Anyone in the know hearing anything about the front office management of the Hornets under Benson? Hearing anything about wholesale changes? I'm wondering if Hugh Weber will stick around.

Also wondering if there has been any word or leaks on Monty and Demps' future with the team. I'm a huge Monty fan. I think he has done a tremendous job with this team. Would love to lock him up and extend him.

Usually, new upper management likes to have "their" guys in place. I think things could get interesting with this situation and transition to new ownership.

Rumors and any speculation welcome.

There were some reports on the day of the sale that Monty and Demps are staying.

It's not so much their guys as it is guys that fit the culture of the organization. I think Demps and Monty fit the culture of the Saints fairly well. Demps is a Moneyball GM that has greatly improved the team's scouting capabilities. and Monty is a leader that plays to win and plays the guys that give him the best chance to win regardless of their contract.

I agree completely. I was just wondering if something substantive has come out regarding the future management. I just hadn't heard much.

Monty seems to be well respected in NBA circles. Demps relies heavily on scouting which the hornets have previously lacked. I would love to get both locked up and we finally have franchise stability from the top on down.

I don't know about hugh weber though. He just seems more like a PR guy.

From what Benson said about Loomis being involved, it seems like Weber might have different role than he does now.

I can't imagine Loomis doing anything other than acting as team president/Benson proxy. Hugh might get a demotion if he sticks

Don't see any need for Weber with Loomis and Lausha being involved. I would expect he will be involved in transition, but not sure what after that.

I'm worried about cross roles with the two franchises. When he said loomis would "look" over some stuff for the Hornets, that raised some concerns. I'm huge fan of both franchises with season tickets to both, I just would rather independent day to day team management for both franchises.

That's kind of one goes into my question in this thread. I would love to avoid any cross management with the franchises (besides ownership of course).

To quote Stern, "he doesn't even own the team yet" I'd guess that we won't hear anything substantive until the deal is officially done which may not happen until June/July. And that's fine by me. Let Demps show he has a good draft strategy and if you think he did a good job give Demps and Monty extensions right before FA starts.

I don't think Loomis or any Saints executive would want to have the same role on both teams. They're probably busy enough as it is. Loomis is just someone Benson trusts to figure things out for him. My guess is that rather than doing double duty they'll just be in charge of setting parameters and hiring/firing the top positions.

Basically Loomis will be just working during his suspension with the hornets

My feeling is that there won't be much immediate change, and I just don't think Loomis will be involved in the day to day. I definitely think Demps and Monty will be here next year. IMO, Weber has done a good job with this process and he's definitely worked his arse off. Not sure what his title or role will be long term. I think Stern and others have given Benson favorable reviews of all three.

Benson and I believe Stern have praised the work of Hugh Weber so I'm pretty confident he stays.

Can someone educate me on what Hugh Weber's job is. I know he's the VP, but was does he do?

I remember rumors that near the end both Chouest and Shinn were pretty hands off. I think Demps was basically hired by Monty and Weber. I credit Demps for all the FO turnover. I just haven't seen Weber attached to any specific personnel announcement other than Demps. I guess Weber's job is to stay out of Demps' way He did an interview with 247 a few months back and talked about how he responds to ticket holders on twitter and email, everything from complaints to trade ideas, so I guess his primary tasks are on the customer service/marketing/PR side of things. He also talks about the TV deal a lot so I think he plays a big role in negotiating that.

I'm pretty sure Weber deals with the non-basketball parts of the operation. Marketing, sales, administrative personnel, pr.

Isn't Hugh Weber responsible for announcing all Jason Smith signings?

He didn't have much to do at the time.
