I doubt they jump back and forth. Though once he is pretty much killed and zombified after his fight with the prince of Dorne (pretty sure the conventional wisdom is that is him), then whoever it is will be pretty much covered in armor concealing his face, etc.

I am looking forward to that fight but that's a ways off I think.

Could anyone explain that smoke monster thing without spoiling too much? It has befuddled me to no end. WTF was that thing?

In my opinion it doesn't need an explanation, there isn't much to explain; it is supposed to cause you to think "WTF was that thing?" There's not much to spoil, you see she is some type of sorceress with powers. That is the explanation. But before we discuss anything I'd simply suggest you trust your instinct and be patient for next weeks episode. Sometimes mysteries are better off as mysteries.

Without spoiling and providing background tidbits:

The Shadow was in the shape of Stannis, Davos remarks he's known that shadow for the past X number of years and the man who casts it.

They had to go in that cave to unleash the shadow because the location they are at is protected by magical wards preventing something such as this shadow from penetrating unless it is unleashed inside of them.

Melisandre the red priestess, her religion mentions shadows, light, fire, and heat quite a bit. They all play off one another.

Only problem is that the tv show doesn't mention the castle or why it's important. It seems they are condensing two separate incidents into one.

Which I really want the original guy for his fight with oberyn. Huge intense beast man vs. lanky normal looking guy who happens to be tall.

The skinniness of the new mountain bothers me quite a bit.

I agree completely. I thought last season was good. But they really seem to have stepped it up this time. I thought the Arya stuff was great and it looks like it will continue that way (even if it's Twyin and not Roose that she's working for now). And I think Margary has been set up really well for the future.

i was actually glad to see one of Tyrion's plans backfire a bit. To me they were bordering on portraying him as a little too content with himself, walking around whistling all the time. He can definitely hold his own with the master manipulators at King's Landing. But it's not going to be an easy journey for him in the future and i'm glad they kind of showed he's not all powerful.
