Buying a new truck soon (Went with a Dodge)

Only going to be used for light duty (small utility trailers, atv, small diesel tractor) and my wife will drive it fairly often. We do have two kids, one in a car seat. I am open to anything but she doesnt like the F150. Any ideas or words of advice?
I appreciate all of the advice and discussion from the OB once again! We looked around yesterday and after all was said and done her preference was the Dodge 1500 Sport Crew Cab. So we pulled the trigger on a 2012 dark grey, black interior. I hope she likes it as much as she says she does because its hers for a loonnngg time. Thanks again!

Don't buy anything brand new. One year old with 15k miles is where it's at.
You can do all that with a half ton truck. That said, I love 3/4 tons because they are much better built usually.
If you're not overly concerned about gas mileage, I suggest a 3/4 ton chevy with a 6.0 gas burner.
ETA: The ford 3/4 tons are nicer on the inside if that's your thing and ride better than chevys usually. Either one will be PLENTY enough truck. I don't suggest getting a diesel unless you just want one. Todays gas burners are plenty tough and strong enough for everything short of running hot-shot

Chevy Crew cab 4 by 4. Gets same mileage as a two wheel drive

The F150 is the most popular and most sold truck for like 68 years running. Well maybe not that long. I bought an 11 and love mine. I paid a lot but feel that I got a lot too. If you are looking for another option, I really like the new Rams. I feel that they are the best bang for your buck. Nowadays, you cannot go wrong with any of the big 3.

If your wife is picking what kind of truck your going to get then you probably shouldn't be getting one. Get what you want. I'd go with the ecoboost in the Ford.
Also, why doesn't she like the Fords?

Has she really seen the interior of the f150? I have the lariat; the interior is nicer then most cars.
And much more space then chevy or gmc in the crew cab

IMO if you don't have a need for heavy towing/hauling then a Tacoma double cab is the way to go. You'll get better gas mileage, better reliability, more offroad capability, and a higher resale value with the Tacoma than pretty much any full size truck. I just traded an 07 4x4 that I bought new for a 2012. The 07 had 80,000 miles on it and I got right at 20,000 in trade for a truck that I paid 28,000 for new.

shite! Looks like I'm late to the truck thread...as usual.
The 2013 Rams are going to be
I drive a 2011 Ram, 0 issues and I'm at 26,000 miles...it's a great truck. Plenty of power, nice interior, incredible ride quality, and the mpgs aren't bad either. I can average near 20mpg going from BR to Houma.
Here's some info on the new Rams, seriously, check it out...they're sweet. They have a reworked interior, optional 8-speed trans, optional self leveling air ride suspension, 8.4" Touchscreen, 6-7" color screen in the gauge cluster, and loads of other 1st in class items (like grill shutters and stop/start technology).

Chrysler should be paying me
I'm on my second and we have 4 in our family currently. One with around 110,000 miles...maintained horribly bc it's my dads Durango lol. No issues though. Shoot me an email if you'd like, I can tell you pretty much anything you want to know about them.

Idk what's been said so far... But I've wanted a Sierra for a while now (have f150).. Been fishing with a guy who has a tundra and that thing has me guessing on my next purchase. Strong engine that tows better than any of those other trucks and I like the way the interior is set up.. Only thing I dislike about it is that it's hard as hell to see out the back when backing the boat up.. And blind spots in general
Eta: speaking of trucks.. Anyone know of GM is rolling out a slightly new design this year?

Fords have the most rear leg room (43") while Chevy/GMC has the least (39") Ram's and Titan's are right in between the two (40-41")

If Toyota made a diesel, I'd be all over a tundra.
