To me, social issues are more important to the foundations of a society than economic issues. If the social issues are addresses and the populace feels appreciated, it can move forward as a whole toward prosperity.

There has never been a country in history that solved all the social issues it faced, because such issues are easy to trump up to motivate a voting bloc in the direction of your choosing. I do so very much believe you have prioritized these issues in an inverse order by significant magnitudes.

And the liberal gene is displayed.

Again, you're trying to put me into a category that I don't fit in. I share many socially left platforms. But why would I vote on something that has nothing to do with anything?

Precisely. Social issues are a zero-sum game for all of those who are passionate about them. Much more room for common ground on the fiscal front.

That doesn't mean it shouldn't be strived for. As a Christian, I'm aware that perfection will never be achieved. That doesn't stop or alter my pursuit of it. I see no reason that my political views should differ from that.

There's not enough collective money going around to sufficiently pad the extended palms of individuals. Short of ceasing the payments to citizens from government coffers, your plan leads to national destitution after a breakdown of government services due to unsustainable balance sheets. You can't look at it the way you are if you wish for there to be a future to bank on.

If you really believed this, the only logical choice would be anarcho-capitalist. Not sure how you ended up at liberal.

I'm an intelligent person, and several respected posters here will attest to that, and I'm a liberal. Still, I'm embarrassed by welfare queens and people who demand assistance as opposed to people who need and require assistance. As a conservative, I felt the same way. I was embarrassed by evangelicals and neo-cons, generally.

Agreed, and I've said that people need to be more accountable. That doesn't mean that social safety nets should be abolished, it means that we should find ways to increase the work ethics and knowledge of those who currently depend on such programs.

Weak people need government and public approval of what they do in their bedroom. If liberal gays were really as accepting of themselves as they claim they would realize this instead of using government to force acceptance of this on everyone else.

Even liberals believe it's all about economics. Their "projects" get the resources over someone else. In the end, someone will always get the short end of the stick. Liberals are no different.

Gay people don't want acceptance, in my experience. They just want the same benefits that everyone else gets.

Unfortunately you mean groups trump money. If you look at individuals instead you wouldn't spout such nonsense.

You call for accountability, but seek to extend the very social contracts that enables the very lethargy you seek to counter. Also, the timetable for what you are prescribing is not valid when sitting on a budget deficit of $16 trillion dollars, in which a trillion dollars is added annually and no budget has been passed in four years. The only way you succeed at achieving your social ends is by first getting the fiscal house completely in order. There is no other way to devote tireless resources to combat something that can't be solved anyhow.
