Yeah, it does seem dumb. It's not all English clubs, though. Arsenal comes across as Barça-lite sometimes, and they do try to produce their own talent.

Swansea tries to play similarly, and for a club that just got promoted I would have to say they are doing pretty well, their recent form notwithstanding.

Wait a second...what's wrong with English clubs attempting to preserve their distinct brand of soccer? If every nation/region abandoned their style of play and pursued that of the front runner, evolution in the game would cease to exist. I particularly enjoy the type of soccer played in England and hope the physicality is never eradicated for the sake of touch passing.

If the English were smart they would pay top notch for guys like Bielsa or Jurgen Klopp who can build a system, rather than just a team.

Klopp has built a machine at BvB on a limited budget.
