I just don't see how people can say this. I've had a few people tell me that they think Superbad is far superior to American Pie. For me, the characters, the stories surrounding each character, and the impact each movie had on films all favor American Pie. Superbad was just another movie whereas American Pie raised the bar.

I can see someone saying Superbad had more humor, but better overall? I just don't understand it.

Superbad was better than American Pie. The dialogue was much funnier and no one had to frick a pastry for cheap laughs.

Better in my opinion, but that's because Superbad came out the summe after I graduated high school, so it was more "my time" I guess.

Superbad is just a funnier movie although I do have a lot of nostalgia for American Pie.

Superbad is a funnier movie

Amercan Pie is a better movie.

AP captured HS more realistically than any other movie ive seen for the most part (not including Dazed and Confused because it was a different era) and had better character development and plot. I love superbad though dont get me wrong

Superbad is the better comedy, American Pie is the better movie overall though

I'm an old man who was in college when Animal House came out so neither is my generation's movie.

In my mind American Pie is easily the better story but Superbad, partially because of the low brow humor, is more watchable.

American Pie is really good and I liked it very much but I have no desire to re-watch it.

Superbad is one of those movies like Animal House, Blazing Saddles, Vacation, Caddyshack, Trading Places maybe even Porky's that will always be funny.

You could have made the same movie in the 70's, 80's or 90's and it would have been just as funny.

Also one was about the popular, successful kids and the other was about two unknown everyman type guys.

American Pie was more my time than Superbad and I would still rather watch Superbad

Can't Hardly Wait beats them all though

Unlike Superbad. American Pie has longevity and rewatchability. Saw American Reunion lady night. Loved it. These characters are a path of my generation. Can't say the same about Superbad.

I never liked American Pie, other than Shannon Elizabeth's parts. I thought Superbad was funny.
