Wow.......The guy hasn't done squat even in the crummy Sunbelt. I don't think he has finished better than 3rd in the overall standings, nor has he won a tournament game.
We are LSU.......we can afford to go out and get a proven coach, and not rely on some who has a handful of wins against crummy competition. Why should we take the chance of setting our program back further when we have the means to do otherwise?
Oh, and he is the same buffoon who nearly caused our program to get the death penalty. I'm sure the NCAA will have surely forgotten about that, and won't be back around as soon as they hear the slightest violation may have occurred.

Considering he could have chose anywhere else in america simply being his landing spot is damn good.
He couldn't choose anywhere in America he had to go play in a conference that would let him.

isn't that all they have done?

Easier.
It should have been the other way around, but yeah it is easier to win 20+ at NT. Plus, why would the university hire someone who they fired?

they are doing nothing different than posters on this board, except people will put their thoughts in the newspaper

you call it that, others may call it their opinion
It's fine if it's your opinion, but don't let someone else share theirs.....

Yeah. I have no issues with that either. It does get to a point where it becomes a power struggle publicly.

He went to high school like 10 miles from the UNT campus.
Mitchell couldn't get in to a single legit program in the US because of his grades. So he went to a shitty school right next to home. Big deal.

So its easier to win 20 games at NT (which had mind you 2 prior seasons of 20 wins) than LSU which is in a major conference has 4 final fours has arguably a top 5 player all time (who was in his prime and arguably the top player in the aforementioned period)?

People really want to hate Jones. Its amazing... I am really confused by it.
Stop throwing the "hate" word around. It's not "hate", it's questioning the hiring process and desire for success in our basketball program when we know the school has the money to spend to at least pursue higher-profile coaches. Instead we're considering a former player whose coaching resume is mediocre at best. Nothing confusing about this.

you've compared North Texas and LSU, congrats. Now, compare the competition they both play against.

First of all, this place will never change. Secondly, I do not care who is hired. I'm just giving you reasons why Jones is being bashed. All we hear is Jones from anybody asked. If he's the hire, so be it. But most fans want a perceived better hire given the state of the program.

Irrelevant considering it is a sun belt team playing against sun belt teams. LSU was an SEC team playing SEC teams. In that case you should never hire a succesful mid major in anything...Take for instance Southern Miss' football head coach from last year...Yeah he won 10 games but it was against CUSA...Guess he could never win against a BCS conference right? How bout Meyer? Utah played in the Mountain west...cant win in the SEC.

Jones is 91-88 in conference at a Sun Belt school. Is he the best coach in Sun Belt?

Context and trends. In the last six years he had a streak of 5 straight 20 win seasons...BTW its sun belt you idiot.
Also as for the competition argument the last coach to take us to a final four hasnt won more than 17 games in a season while coaching a school playing in that league.

If this is completely serious, I now understand how some of these crooked and phony public officials keep getting re-elected.

Serious as a heartattack. You have to be a solid coach to go 5 straight seasons with that many wins. No he wasnt playing SEC caliber teams but he doesnt have SEC caliber players
Its not like just any old schmuck can pull off that type of run regardless of conference. IE Brady as an example. Brady was a mediocre SEC coach. Still cant replicate what Jones did.

Guys that get these kind of jobs are dominant in crappy conferences not decent.
