Definitely a by product of the shitty safety class.
I'd put money down on Brandon Taylor turning into the better NFL player.
Barron was never really that great, IMO.

totally agree. Taylor is a great cover safety.

Andre Branch is every bit as bad as Tannehill

Of course he's the best. Saban coached him after all.

I keep hoping Dontari Poe will fall to us. It sounds like enough time has cooled teams down from the Combine performance to where he could drop.
Poe is such a risky pick. From everything I've read, nothing on tape illustrates his insane athletic ability.
Even still, you'd be crazy not to give the guy a look with that type of athletic ability. Some guys that weren't great college players do become great pros.
He could turn into a monster or he could turn into a nobody.

He is really overrated. But perception is reality I guess.

I think Jerry has learned his lesson about taking risky picks and has no problem doing so now after he continuously beat himself up for not taking Moss way back when.
It would also set them up to go after someone like Mingo next year to take over for Spencer after his franchise year is up

Right, all you arse hurt LSU fans know more than all the executives in the NFL. OK. I got it now.

Yep, NFL GMs have never been wrong and their far superior football knowledge makes it impossible to have an opinion formed on my own

The guy has had durability problems but to his credit, he has played through the pain. I think he could fall to the second round. He is a smart player who defends the run well. He's not very good against the pass.

NFL Execs thought Ryan Leaf was a stud too.

If you say so slick
When the Texans drafted Kareem Jackson, a lot of people that he was NFL because he had played in Sabans D. A UT friend of mine rewatched the 2010 BCS CG and noticed that when Texas was coming back, with a true frosh QB, they were throwing at Jackson.

and Mark Barron both scream being overrated but for different reasons.
Poe looks like he has the upside so people are salivating.
Barron looks like he's finished - and if he played for Memphis nobody is talking about Mark Barron. He reminds me of some of the USC guys who would ride the coattails of other stars/wins and look good being along for the ride. There's just nothing NFL-special about Mark Barron.

The way the NFL is progressing if you have a safety that is a liability in coverage it is going to create match up problems. You can cry about butt hurt all you want, fact is Barron will be limited in coverage in the NFL.

This and they are complete opposites.
Poe has the potential to be good, but hasn't or couldn't show it at Memphis.
Barron is presumed to be good due to Bama's success, but most feel he isn't worthy of a 1st rounder

All that talent, so little production. In CUSA. If nothing else, that screams character/work ethic issues. Granted, it COULD be that he was the only guy who posed a threat on the Memphis d-line, but I don't think that's really the case.

Im gonna bookmark this thread and bump it when he is first team all rookie, and then when he makes his first pro bowl.
