I disagree with all of this. He may not win the Presidency, but I think the effect of presidential campaigns on local races isn't what you think.
I think the President is screwed either way. When ObamaCare gets struck down, he will have nothing. Even if he wins, he has a Republican Senate and House. He won't be able to do anything.

Good for him. I'm not excited about Romney, but we Republicans have got to pick a man and get behind him if we want any shot at Romney. I think the battle was actually a good thing for Romney given his political inexperience, but he is now battle tested and ready to hit Obama hard with a message that applies to the entire nation as opposed to just Republicans.
