The 59 Sound is just one great lyric after another for the entire album.

quote:

Well, I wonder which song they're gonna play when we go.
I hope it's something quiet and minor and peaceful and slow.
when we float out into the ether, into the Everlasting Arms,
I hope we don't hear Marley's chains we forged in life.
'cause the chains I been hearing now for most of my life.

59 Sound

quote:

It's funny how the night moves.
Humming a song from 1962.
We were always waiting...always waiting.
We were always waiting for something to happen.

Great Expectations

quote:

And you can tell Jane, if she writes,
that I'm drunk off all these stars and all these crazy Hollywood nights.
That's total deceit, but she should've married me.
And tell her I spent every night of my youth on the floor,
bleeding out from all these wounds.
I would've gotten her a ride out of that town she despised.
You tell that to Janey, if she writes.

" Rush "The Pass"

quote:

He climbed cathedral mountains, he saw silver clouds below,
saw everything as far as you can see.
And they say that he got crazy once and that he
tried to touch the sun,
and he lost a friend, but kept the memory.

Now he walks in quiet solitude, the forest and the stream,
seeking grace in every step he takes,
his sight is turned inside himself, to try and
understand, the serenity of a clear blue mountain lake.

Make sure they play my theme song
I guess daisies will have to do
Just get me to New Orleans
And paint shadows on the pews
Turn the spit on that pig
Kick the drum and let me down
Put my clarinet beneath your bed
Till I get back in town.

It was meant for the post that quoted tupac in this thread.

Btw, I'm willing to bet tupac wrote more songs about different cultural issues than Dylan. Not saying they are more superior poetically, just more diverse. It's well known Dylan wrote songs about nothing. He prided himself on that fact.

Both Pac and Dylan were voices of their respective generations. Both couldn't sing worth a damn. But one of them could rap.
