okay, but jack won 7 majors in the 60s (first of which was 62), the last of which palmer finsihed 2nd in (67 US Open).
so for the first 3rd of jacks dominant run, its totally fair to say palmer was his main foe and plamer was good enough to finish 2nd to jack multiple times during that run. conversly, jack finished 2nd to palmer twice

you could argue that mickelson, els, singh, etc. could have won as much as those guys, if not for tiger's total dominance

I agree with that, is it his fault thought? I mean there are some good to great golfers he has competed against. (Phil, Monte, Vijay, Els)

even if palmer is somewhat over-rated (not saying he is, just playing devils advocate) he is still better than mickleson - tiger's main rival.

Ok How many players that Tiger has gone against has won 6 Majors???? Then Lets throw in what Watson and Player s Majors.

I agree with that, Like someone said earlier he has pretty much broken every major scoring record with no competition, that is pretty impressive in itself.

I am not going to argue this. I said he dominated. BUT look at those players Majors and tourney wins compared to Watson, Player and Trevino, And Palmer.

That is the biggest difference between now and then. The same amount of majors have been won, just from a vastly larger number of players. There's much more parity in the game today.
It's hard to compare era's in any sport. Which is why I said earlier, its not so cut and dry like people make it seem.

LOOK I know you are a BIG Tiger fan. I like it when he is doing well, cause its great for a sport I love, BUT There is NO way he wins 5 more Majors the way he is playing. He has had injury problems that are not gonna get any better with age. I just don't see it. AND You have to agree that the tremendous FOCUS he once had is GONE. I am not sure he can get it back.Think about it.

Oh I know, I said last night or this morning, that I think he can put it all together to win 1 more.
Like Choupique said last night in a thread, "Im not as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was"
Can he do THAT 5 more times? I really doubt it. But also golf is probably the hardest sport to predict because like you said 12 different major winners in the last 12.

A trend that has never happened. Think about that. As HARD as it is to win ONE Major in todays game I just don't see ANY GOLFER winning more than 8 AGAIN. Maybe Phil. But he is getting up in age. RORY is a gREAT Golfer BUT will Not win more than 8 IMO.
