I prefer Keith Moon, if only because he was never in Rush and hated drum solos

He died too young. So you will never know what he could have been. And he HATED solos? When did he die? He may have hated them but he had a "look at me style" no reason to flail around the drum kit like that and then destroy it. When did he die?

I'd go with that. Not that I hate Rush, there is a lot of their stuff that I like but not enough to listen to them consistently. Neil Peart was not a good enough drummer to make me want to listen to Rush all that often. A drummer is never going to make a band.

Truthfully, I don' think there was ever a better rock drummer than Keith Moon...

Carl Palmer was a great 'prog' rock drummer that I would take over Peart as well...
