Diesels are heavy as shite. They are terrible off road trucks. They are strong as shite though and will last much longer than a gas burner. Maintenance on them is expensive to put it mildly. If you're not doing alot of pulling or putting a ton of miles on it, a diesel is probably a waste of money and much more truck than you'll ever need.

Depends on what it did it's whole life and what it is. I would feel comfortable with a toyota tundra with that many miles if it hasn't been abused. Not so much the other two.

Thanks for this post, btw. Not sure how I overlooked it.

I'm certainly considering it. Are there any benefits to owning a F150 over the other two?

I bought a diesel Checy Duramax 4x4 crwcab right before they went to the low sulfer fuel and it went higher than gas. Mine is almost paid for with only 57k miles so I am gonna keep it and find a beater to run around in. I am pretty set on a Toyota, I don't think I will ever own another American made vehicle.

We have white cars and they never look too dirty besides after a bad rain. Well they look good next to my black car. Never get a black vehicle.

I like both of those gmcs and think a 1500 is exactly what you need....I have a 2005 just like them and have not had a bit of problem out of it...use it for pulling boats, small trailers, etc. as well as tailgating during football season...absolutely the most practical vehicle I have ever owned...no reason why you couldn't get either of those trucke for $10K....

Since it isn't an everyday driver, I'd focus more on less miles and less on the features. Find one that is one step up from a fleet truck with low miles.

Stay away from the 5.3 gmc in the 07 and 08. I have an 07 that's been great but now using oil. They are tearing into it in the morning. He said the first thing they have to do on those two models is change the lifters and cam because they've had issues. Then they will proceed to try to find the prob according to the chevy mechanic. Thank goodness for the 100,000 miles drive train warranty. I've got 15k left on it and it just started goin through by the quart. Mine is the third one I've heard of doing this.

I think I will only ever have a silver truck. Don't see scratches or swirls, doesn't look dirty. Awesome.
