I don't think he's a top 150 player in the country and one of the top five in the state.

As my earlier post noted, they're worthless. I went through and looked at all the LA kids and i will give them credit for some of the love they've given the kids overall but their overall state rankings are shite.
I can see Beckwith being the top player in the state because a lot of people think he is but there is no way he's #16 in the country. Not even close.
Williams is about right as is Dobard and Smith though I prefer Smith but it's about 50/50 split from the people I listen to.
Chris Taylor is a good player but he's limited by his height. No way he's top 150 in the country. Boutte is clearly the better player but yet has no rating yet.
Diarse is one that I can't argue with because I've stated that he is a mixed bag with evaluators.
Chuck Baker got some real love from them.
Overall there are around 15 4* kids from the state, give or take a couple.
2 things stood out to me most. No Prevot when ESPN is involved in the invites to "The Opening" and saw enough to invite Prevot but yet isn't a 150 kid. Strange.
The other is the huge difference in rating between Nkemdiche and Foster. Nkemdiche got a 94 while Foster is 87. I know the hype around Nkemdiche is huge and he's the greatest thing since sliced bread but I argue that Foster is the better football player and not far behind in terms of talent. I'd definitely have Nkemdiche #1 but Foster is closer to him than #3 imo. That kid is a beast. Best LB I've seen in my recruiting days by far. Nkemdiche is below Clowney imo at DE.

of interest:
taylor - 80 (katrina kid)
prevot -79
myles -80
massington - 80
jt barrett -80
huermann - 80
wilson -79 (katrina kid)
most on this board really liked prevot and wilson. no way they should be the 2 lowest rated.

I was a little perplexed by some of those as well but didn't want to go through the entire list of complaints I have. I complain enough about rankings. For those that believe in such things, you'd think ESPN doesn't like LSU seeing as all of our potential commits(aside from a select few) are not rated as high as other places. FWIW I don't believe in that conspiracy bullshite.
Most on here know how much I hate Rivals and yet ESPN has always and will always be worse until they put real money and effort behind recruiting. At this point they're content with pushing kids going to their favorite schools or the "money" schools. Also pushing up the UA kids. Absolutely no excuse for Sua Cravens and Jaylon Smith to be rated where they are aside from the fact that they're playing in the Army game. Absolute travesty. Both are at the least top 10 players and I think both are top 5.
