I didn't even catch that.

He's a very good player but not worth anything near a max contract.

Anderson can shoot the lights out and rebound at a good rate, has a PER of 19 and 21, and over .200 WS/48 each of the last 2 seasons. He is currently top 10 in WS and WS/48 in the NBA.

You wouldn't offer him 4/$58 million? Now that's

I'm usually pretty good with the stat lingo, but I need a translation.

14 mil a year. No, i wouldnt offer Ryan Anderson 14 mil a year. That is the kind of deal that could cripple a team. You pay that to a centerpiece. He's not one.

PER is John Hollinger's Player Efficiency Rating. A PER of 15 is league average. Above 20 is All-Star territory, above 25 is MVP discussion, above 30 is MJ in his prime type season.

WS is an estimate of the number of wins a player contributes.

WS/48 is an estimate of the number of wins a player contributes per 48 minutes. League average is .100.

This site has a lot of info, but great explanations if you're interested in advanced stats.

Fair enough.

It is excessive, but this isn't old Peja. The dude is young and can really play. Fills a need and you get him for his prime. A frontcourt of Davis and Anderson would give teams nightmares.

I agree that they should save cap space and be flexible. That scenario was purely wild, off the wall, never will happen in a million years speculation.
