You are correct, and I am guilty for taking pleasure in some of those covers, my favourite being Across the Universe by Laibach. I just feel funny about people tinkering with Beatles songs.

I thought Come Together by Aerosmith wasn't bad. It was one of the few redeeming moments in the Sgt. Pepper movie.

I also think Elton John's Lucy in the Sky is worth a listen.

Outside of those, nobody has really done justice to any of the Beatles' stuff .

Who do you really think could cover "The Night Before" or "You're Gonna Lose That Girl" ?

I think Steven Tyler does a horrendous job on that song. JMO though.

I was more impressed with the bass line and guitar work in that cover.

And yes, Wilson P's cover is definitely worth listening to.

Still, think about the many songs the Beatles did. What covers by what bands could possibly be any good ?

Maybe "With a Little Help From My Friends" and "She came In Through the Bathroom Window" by Joe Cocker ?

I might get killed for this, but I think Cockers version is way better than the Beatles version.
