I remember about 10 or 15 years ago it was common knowledge that NFL player's life expectancy was a good 5 to 10 years less than the average. But those were also guys who retired in the 70s and such, so it might have gotten better.

You got to think about all the surgeries they have. I knew a very important contributor to LSU football and he told me he had 4/5 hand surgeries during college. I never knew (and I doubt any body did) about those surgeries. RBs get their knees cleaned up every offseason almost, it adds up.
