This is an actual 31" trout with a picture to use as a baseline.

LINK

According to the article it is a currently pending IGFA record. Since this is an international record I don't think i have to go too far out on a limb to say the others are well under the 31" mark.

Keep in mind they are talking about a new category of records based on length. The previous record was less than 25 inches. The fish in that picture doesn't hold a candle to the Texas records.

But yes, that 31 inch trout makes the ones posted here look like 26 inch fish.

Not neccessarily. Most folks don't know about lenght records, and most assume its weight based. Read the article. Old record was 24 inches in 2011. I can promise 25" + trout have been caught this spring, but nobody knows or cares enough to submit an application.

had one between 31"-32" greak off after 5 minute fight on the Causeway several years ago on mothers day.
Whole family got to see it and my kids still remember the size of that ole girl.
Wife hit he in the head with a net and she got off..

That's a length record only. They haven't even been keeping length records very long. The all-tackle record by weight is much different:

underarmour visor is Capt. John Solari who is also holding the fish. I don't see Nate in that pic.

See this link in LA Sportsman for the story. Read to bottom:

I'd shat myself if I caught a 17.7 lb trout! Hell I'd shat myself if I caught a 10 lber.

Plus this is probably the most accomplished group of fishermen you will ever see in one picture together, well except for the sawed off little elf.

I'd shite if I caught an 8. Maybe a 7. Biggest trout I have caught was 29 inches but only 6 lb. and change. Skinny fricker.

KVD in a picture by himself eclipses that photo as far as angling accomplishments. But I get your point.
