XDM

I want to get the .45 XDM. It will be my first pistol to own. I've shot quite a few different makes, models, and calibers and this one felt the best in my hand. I'll probably get it this weekend. Looking forward to it

I prefer the trigger of the S&W m&p over the glocks. Never shot a sig.

Try this. Take a mag and shoot it as fast as possible without slapping the trigger. Report back with how many times you pulled the trigger and the gun didnt fire because the trigger didnt reset.

I like the trigger on the M&P, I just dont like the lack of a reset.

When S&W fixes that crappy trigger in the M&Ps, I would be willing to dump my glocks and switch over.

Or you can get a SA and call it a day.

No one said anything about them failing. We were talking about the glock and m&p shitty trigger pull

My bad for getting off track.

Yall ever try the FN FNX? Thats one pistol that has eluded me.

What are you carrying that is a single action?

While I love my 92FS, and I like the single action. The double action pull sucks donkey balls.

I have the FNP in .40. I love it. I chose it over the Glock 23, SA XD 40, and the S&W MP 40.

10888,
My recs are based on the assumption that the new gun purchase is for home defense/range gun/car gun; if it's for concealed carry, my recs will be different.

Smith&Wesson M&P, Glock, Springfield XD(M) and Sig all make some fine guns that would fit your criteria. Most everyone here will probably to you the same gun they have. Nothing wrong w/ that, but it may not work for you. You want to find the single gun that fits you best; after that, you can deal w/ small details of each gun (e.g. do you like or dislike the grip safety of the XD; do you like or dislike the particular trigger of a gun?). At some point, you'll have to deal w/ the issue of how much $$$ you're willing to spend. Brand new Sigs are pricey.

If you don't mind the presence of an external safety lever, you might also want to consider the Ruger SR series.

Since it's so much less expensive than 40 S&W and 45 ACP, your best choice will probably be a 9 mm.

Go handle some guns! Even better, if possible, go SHOOT some guns. Enjoy your journey. :-)

So when I was out looking at handguns handled a couple of Springfield xd models, really easy to break down, good mag load, really liked the safety features and had a nice balance to it. I also took a look at a couple of SIG's, really to big for my needs, a great tac gun and just looked baddass. I really liked the S&W 40 ( i think that is the model) you know the one glock sued them over. by far my favorite so far.

The S&W m&p is a great weapon, I like it better than the glocks. My favorite by far is the sig though.
