Yeah he is a dickhead, but why was it wrong to do so?

Because he's taunting a man that may be about to lose his livelihood over something that to my knowledge no one has any solid evidence for. It's a chicken-shite move on King's part even if Vilma did it.

Is King a "reporter"? (I really don't know exactly). Because, if he is, it was out of line.

That's how I feel. And yes. He is a writer for Sports Illustrated. A senior, tenured writer...

Peter King (born June 10, 1957 in Springfield, Massachusetts) is an American sportswriter. He writes for Sports Illustrated, including the weekly multiple-page column Monday Morning Quarterback. He is the author of five books, including Inside the Helmet. He was named National Sportswriter of the Year for 2010.[1]

"National Sportswriters of the Year" should not be taunting players.

Get over it. Tons of people on this board said the same thing. We signed 2 of the top 5 LB prospects in the FA this season. He is probably gone. Hes old, has bad knees, and will prob be suspended half if not all of the season anyway. If he had said this about any other team no one would have cared. Is he a dick, yes. Should he have said it, maybe not. Is it wrong for him to make a comment on his twitter, no, who gives a shite about twitter.

The entire media is being retarded right now, just tune them out.

The line between reporter and shite stirrer/gossip spreader are so blurred these days. Every time I try to read an article on CBSSportsline it ends up being an editoral bashing the Saints and calling Payton "Mr. Arrogant". But they present it on the webpage as if it is an actual news story.

Tons of people thought the same thing, yes. But I don't recall anyone of us booming Vilma afterwards. I don't give a shite about twitter other than a way to consolidate my Saints new, but it was a bitch move on PK part.

Saying that a team that signed two younger top FA prospects at a position where the current starter had a bad season, some injury problems, and will probably be suspended for half or whole season and said team has cap issues they are working out seems pretty impartial to me.

well if we go through the last 3 years or so and count the # of times a public figure(athlete, reporter, politician etc) got himself in trouble on twitter, I think the number would indicate that quite a few people give a shite about twitter.

Twitter isn't just some internet fad that 14 year old girls play on to follow Kim Kardashian.

It's a social media tool that has become very important in modern society. Dismissing it out of hand is old fashioned stick in the mud nonsense

King also has been very vocal in his criticism after the bounties. He thinks the penalties are excessive, but he has hammered the guilty parties for their role in it.

As much as I don't like that King is "taunting" Vilma, he did do it on twitter. Where, last time I checked is opinion grand central. Even journalist have their own point of views. If he wrote that in his article I would question his journalism skills a bit more.

You can't go around spreading your opinion when you're in the public eye like that, being an impartial unbiased commentator.

Do you think it would be okay if the President went on twitter, blasted foreign leaders, then said "Well I didn't do it in the State of the Union so it's okay."

First, King's not entitled to his opinion? When and where is he allowed to express it?

Second, The President is held to a much higher standard. Also the President doesn't need to go to twitter to blast foreign leaders, he does that in the news. And its calculated.

I'm an old soul. I literally do not understand anything about my generation or the hell spawn that is coming after me. I dont understand facebook, twitter, techno, hipsters, emos, the E channel, reality television, TMZ, Paris Hilton, the Kardatians, the current cartoons kids watch, Justin Bieber, popular music, the stuff that is on Nick and Disney nowadays, this insane entitlement movement, the list goes on and on. And i fear for the future. Our politicians are out of touch, our voters dont care, our education system is in the toilet, our economy is failing, and the government is a big bloated retard trying to manage a country. I'll stop ranting like an old man now

I do love memes though, thats the one link i have to people my age.

so he can't make comments?

he's a columnist. it's his job to express his opinion. however, the way he did it came across as condescending, and it was uncalled for. i don't blame vilma one bit for firing back.
