I think that sums up and illustrates a lot about Obama's presidency. I know it's a common talking point for conservative radio, but I think there's some legitimacy to the idea that Obama's world exists within a hypothetical classroom. In his mind, the statute's constitutionality is unquestionable because a lot of professors and scholars say so.

Idiot. The Unelected (ie: DHHS Secretary) has tremendous powers under the bill. Why does she get that kind of power.

I took the quote right after he said it and posted it... I didn't read through the entire speech and hand pick it out to look bad, as most libs on here do. I think it sounds bad no matter what, but its up to you to decide how you feel about it. It is what it is.

That's going to be his parachute. He is going to claim he basically meant "a group of unelected political lackeys who overturned an obviously constitutional piece of legislation that loves puppies because they are in the pocket of the Republican party." The better quote is the one earlier in the paragraph, the "passed with a democratically elected majority" bit. ETA: quote:
Ultimately, I am confident the Supreme Court will not take what would be an unprecedented, extraordinary step of overturning a law that was passed by a strong majority of a Democratically-elected Congress.

Then why did they have to do a run-around in the Senate to avoid Scott Brown voting on the bill? AM I mistaken or didn't Brown run on opposing the bill?

Hey hey hey.... This was a budgetary bill that only needed 51 votes!!! Don't you question those honorable democrats!

He's really showing his ignorance here. The line item veto passed the Senate 69-31 and the House 232-177. Those are pretty strong majorities but the Court struck that law down. It is neither unprecedented nor extraordinary. And this "constitutional genius" should know better than to suggest that the size of the congressional majority has any bearing on the constitutionality of the law.

I told myself that I wasn't going to vote for another establishment republican this time, but Obama is doing such a great job of driving me closer to pulling the lever for Romney. Don't get me wrong, I'd never vote for Obama, but I was feeling ok about letting him win again and voting for Paul. I just may hold my nose and vote for whomever it takes to get his arse out of there.

Although Romney has grown on me over time, I was going to vote Republican regardless and one of the main reasons was Supreme Court appointees. The thought of Obama getting to nominate 2-3 more justices is horrifying.

He's calling them activist if they overturn it. The law is unconstitutional.

Didn't the USSC already do their preliminary vote on this issue Friday? I wonder if his "insiders" on the court have clued him in on those results???

I really hope Scalia writes the opinion now. Assuming they voted to overturn it.

As has already been pointed out, a key phrase was left out. Duly constituted. What he meant by that was an obviously constitutional law. Leaving that portion of the quote out makes the quote bad. However, when correctly quoted in its entirety, the quote is in essence obviously correct. Thus people here do not actually quote his quote but instead quote the misquote because it sounds worse. And people here want to believe that he said something he actually didn't say. Truth versus perception. People here play whisper down the street and intentionally quote the known incorrect quote because it reinforces their beliefs. I should write a paper just on this and how people willingly cling to things they know are wrong.

Again, he's calling them activists if they overturn the law. shite is hilarious because of how much the left makes fun of the right for bitching about judicial activism.

That is not what he said. Read the correct full quote and then come back and talk to me.
