Just seen this on Fox 8 & they said something about players can now face possible criminal charges for the Bounty Gate . Anyone else hear anything?

If so the lawsuits vs the NFL will be a sure thing

The WDSU article said the NFLPA has told players there is a "chance" of criminal charges. They have hired lawyers as a precaution to prevent them from being over zealous in cooperating, maybe? If they reveal too much, none of that would be privileged and protected from a court subpoena.

This is absolute bullshite. Bring out the green jerseys. Two hand touch is the future of the NFL.

And what about criminal charges against Payton, Loomis, Williams, etc. No mention of that prospect by the NFL. The entire thing has become worse than a three ring circus. If you though the NBA was dysfunctional well the Godell inspired NFL is making a run for the NBA's trophy.

I would love to see a prosecutor try to show the act combined with the intent to cause contact that the players didn't consent to. That would be an epic effort of futility.

This can't be said enough:

This is a slippery slope if there ever was one. Ubaldo jimenez, Terrell Suggs, James Harrison, lookout!

You can also blame former players who spent their fortunes on bling, blow and whores for this too. They now have no money and are suing the NFL; so the league pretends it cares about player safety and hammers the Saints to prove a point. Lawyers smell blood and will now go after the players themselves.
The slide down the slippery slope has begun.

frick all this shite. They all should be signing waivers before they are allowed to play. That they are KNOWINGLY putting themselves at risk.

I have a hard time seeing any DA and/or prosecutor worth their salt touching this without a can of worms being opened.
Another example of the slippery slope the NFL is going down on. If they keep this up, precedents they will have set will be the downfall of this league.

Yep. Every injury could be tried as a criminal case if they open this up. I don't think the NFL wants that.

Looks like "Grandstanding"to me.
quote:
Gabe Feldman, a law professor and director of the Tulane Sports Law Program, said shortly after the NFL made its investigation public that he didn’t expect any criminal or civil legal action specifically tied to the bounties.
“They’re difficult cases to bring, because it’s hard to prove the injury was caused by a tackle with specific intent to injure, rather than a regular tackle,” Feldman explained at the time. “We all know injuries are a part of football. There can’t be legal liability anytime there is an injury. Otherwise, you can’t have football.”
