Awesome take by the writer. Too bad more in the national media don't see it this way. Whether you agree with the bounty program or not there is no basis for these unprecedented punishments or proof that the bounty program was for "illegal" hits. I hope if/when Payton loses the appeal he sues the league.

Opposing fans hate us so much that they're being very short sited. For instance, I hate the Cowboys, so part of me giggled when I heard about the cap space that was taken away from them. But you have to think in terms of "What if it was us?"
Now I'm not saying their shouldn't have been penalties levied against us, but it's wrong to go crazy with the penalties just because you want to send a message.

Good article - thanks
It amazes me how Adolf can dish out a suspension or fine a few days after a certain flagrant hit but take years to find the Saints guilty of something - of what? Where were those flagrant fouls and injury-intended tackles? Aren't the refs supposed to be able to see and call those wrongs? The penalty was far too stiff.

I read the article on saints report. This is exactly what I've been saying since all of this bullshite started. If Goddell was so worried that the saints were trying to hurt players, where were all of the fines and suspensions during the past couple of seasons. They review every game and hand out fines. This whole situation was blown out of proportion by the league office, and the media was complicent in this shite. I would sue the shite out of the league

good piece, reflective of society, or at least the media somewhat, when reason and common sense stick out as uncommon.
