Let's just make a month long ban bet that you don't win ten games in the regular season. You would probably shoot yourself if you couldn't post on this board for a month.

re: What's the latest word on Louisiana's TE Standish Dobard from LSU's end?

Imo it goes Smith, Dobard and then Heuerman. That's talent. As for fits it depends on the school. For LSU, the past would lead to most thinking Dobard and Heuerman were better fits because they can block but it seems Les is intent on moving towards some spread looks and that makes Smith more vital. Bama's best fit is Dobard. He is basically the prototype Bama TE. I can't speak to Auburn now because I don't know the exact plan for the offense. People say pro style but that entails quite a bit. Technically Bama is a pro style but a different version than USC. Just going by Lutz and then Parks, I'd think either Smith or Dobard would be good fits. Of course some don't like TEs like Smith because his entire career is going to be based on catching the ball and not blocking. Smith just has another level to his pure athletic talent imo.

Why would I make a ban bet about this before we've even seen a starting lineup, depth chart, or a list of pre-season unjuries? Seriously? Kiehl Frazier could get hurt during Summer practice and our whole season would basically be fricked. That's retarded.

I doubt it, since I've done it before more than once.

Because you keep predicting 10 wins as a possibility. Prove to me that you actually believe that, and not just spouting off your constant bull shite.

Must have been tough times for you.

re: What's the latest word on Louisiana's TE Standish Dobard from LSU's end?

Yea, I don't exactly look at TE as a must need for Auburn, since we are getting pretty tight there (Lutz, Parks, Hutcherson, Fulse, and Uzomah). If we can land Dobard then I will definitely be happy, though. NSD 2013 is a long way away so I guess we'll see what he says about some more of his visits.

As for Miami's pending probation, has there been any talk about that recently? I haven't read much at all since the whole fiasco happened. It could definitely lead some prospects to another destination.

Probably because it is. And I said 9-10 wins, brah.

I'm pretty sure a lot believe that in Auburn's fanbase, and I don't need some silly ban bet to prove it. Making a ban bet now is fricking retarded to start with.

I'm done arguing with you. You basically came in this thread, like all other threads, with the intent to flame. See ya.

re: What's the latest word on Louisiana's TE Standish Dobard from LSU's end?

I only know what I read from fans on message boards. Of course that leads to varying opinions on the severity so I always just say "could" when discussing it because the NCAA is so inconsistent. Miami fans think they'll get hit pretty hard but not hammered and of course FSU and UF people think they'll get debilitating(not sure if that's correct) penalties. Then you've got the USC fans who think they better get hammered because of the guy that led the charge against them is a Miami guy. I would expect at least OSU level penalties with a few more scholarships taken but not USC level.

I think they may get a little bit more than this. Seems like they're the worst case in a a good bit of years...

Understandable, kind of like Bama fans when Auburn was being investigated.

Understandable again, because USC got hammered pretty hard. They'll recover soon, I would think.

I'm not sure what to think as of now, but it would've been nice if they'd have gotten hammered before Deon Bush signed his LOI. I couldn't believe he picked Miami over us and Bama knowing they would get in trouble.

Dobard is starting to look like an offensive tackle. He's getting a little heavy and his ball skills aren't the greatest.

Completely agree... Looks good on the line, but his ball skills are questionable, plus he is very soft and don't like contact much...

Sonny's new article on TSD (Scout) says LSU is back in the drivers seat with Smith after the spring game. Guess we all just have to wait and hope that doesn't change if the Tigers are going to be throwing a lot to the TE's.

With Mettenberger's ability, I expect everyone to be getting catches this season. He's not a shitacular quarterback like Jarret Lee and/or Jordan Jefferson were at LSU.

The only thing that would scare me about LSU'd offense would be the size at WR. They aren't the biggest guys.

re: What's the latest word on Louisiana's TE Standish Dobard from LSU's end?

Imo while size is great to have, it's not imperative in college football. If a wr can get separation then he can be successful in college. The best wr in college football the last 2 years(not the most talented, the best and most skilled) was Ryan Broyles and he'd be lucky to be 6'0. Quickness and abilty to get separation are much more important in college. Size is great though especially on the deep balls. Watch James Wright this year. 6'2 and a good enough athlete to be a threat though he doesn't have Randle or Beckham's speed.

TT, on the subject of wrs, is Benton finally going to do something this year or is he a lost cause? I personally don't get it. Such a fabolous talent. Does he just not get the playbook or what?

I never felt more sure of a guy being a complete stud in college after I watched Deangelo Benton's highlight film from Bastrop. Seriously don't know what happened to the guy but based solely of his route to college he clearly isn't the sharpest tool in the shed, so maybe the college game just never clicked.

I hope so... IDK what the problem is really. I guess he just has trouble with the playbook. He made some good plays last year, and then looked clueless any other time. It'd be nice to see him finally put it together for sure.

The best WR at LSU, Josh Reed was 5'10 210 at best with 4.54 speed. All he needed to smash records was a good QB to get him the ball and he did the rest even though the entire defense knew he was getting the ball.

The receivers this year have a better running game to help them than the 2001 team. I'll be content if each of them do a fraction of what Reed did, especially after the piss poor passing offense the last 3 years.
