And have one more episode to watch. The last 20-25% of the book was some of the best shite I've ever read. It seems to be playing out well on TV too. I should be starting Clash of Kings tonight.

My question for those who have read CofK, is the pace similar to the beginning of GofT? Because it took me a month to get 60% in but a week to read the rest.

By now you should have the familiarity with the characters and the want to know what happens next

Dude, edit that shite out, that is one of the biggest events of the novels and if someone knows the name it's rather easy to see coming.

Use the abbreviation RW

You'll probably read the last 400 pages or so of SOS in one night.

Reading Storm of Swords right now. Just now starting to get really good about 450 pages in. COK is better paced IMO. That book flows from one chapter to the next. You will finish it in a week or two. I finished the first two in a week each, but SOS has taken me nearly three months with school. ETA: This RW better be worth it.

SoS is the best in the series. Really change it to RW. CoK is an incredible book too and you will love it just as much as game of thrones

I'm really glad I read the series prior to realizing people on this board had already read them. Many of the great aspects of the books are ruined by careless posts in these threads everyday.

agreed. I'm just starting Feast for Crows, so I still try to steer clear of most GoT/ASOIAF threads, but I figured a thread about the first book and how it ties in to the first season would be safe, but people just can't help themselves.

For the most part, you should be OK. Most of the people that have read the last two books have been smart enough not to ruin anything. The reason could also be that no quick abbreviations have been created for large plot events.

People are stupid. I have no idea what that meant, but I'm sure I'll get there and it will suck knowing I saw that.

meh, I knew what RW meant, and I was still surprised/pissed when I read it. I did not realize what I had just read until afterwards.

And then I read it again.

Some dick ruined the end to aDwD for me be labeling the thread title "Game of Thrones SPOILERS." So, I thought they were talking about the first book, obviously not the entire series since it is called aSoIaF, not GoT.

Whoever that was, thanks again for shitting on the ending for me.

Like someone else said, since you know the characters now, the next two books will be like the last 40% of the first book for you. It'll slow down with book 4 because it introduces so many new people. Then it'll speed up with 5 again.
