Yes, Coach Dinardo had the same downfall as other head coaches--excessive loyalty to assistants, esp. to Lou Tepper, former DC.

But I did meet him as he made a visit to his restaurant in Baton Rouge one time--was very friendly, posed for pictures with several customers and it was really nice to meet him.

LOL--Is his son going to walk on as an OL?

I had a similar experience. The company I was working for at the time had a private party there, and we were in a private room. DiNardo came in to check on us, make sure everythihng was ok, etc. Seemed really nice.

While true, it was recruiting too many academic casualties that was his primary problem. During his last season in 1999, LSU only had around 58 players on scholarship. That’s like putting yourself on serious probation.

He used to substitiute at Broadmoor High after he got fired my senior year.

Wait...what?

Yes, you heard that right. He was substituting at Broadmoor High school around 99-00. History I think it was. I just saw him walking down the hall one day. It was odd. Thats where LSU's program was back then I guess. He wasnt getting paid very much at LSU I assume to need a PT job after he lost his job at LSU. Or maybe he just liked to teach.

Coach Dinardo was a class act. I met him a couple of times. He was not an egomaniac by any means.
