This may sound crazy at first, but hear me out.

If the recent rumors of Manning going to SF are true (hope not,) then there has been talk of the Dolphins signing Alex Smith.

If this happens, I think that the Colts would be MUCH better suited signing a young but experienced QB (who has been learning under Aaron Rodgers) in Matt Flynn instead of a rookie in Luck. Then, with their number one pick, Indy could address another pressing need. Maybe defense... you don't get 60+ pts scored on you just because you don't have a QB.

Thoughts?

Edit: My Prediction: The Seahawks are finally going to stat having winning seasons.

They have to give an excuse to the fan base for getting rid of Manning.

The excuse that everyone wants is Luck.

IF they did this, they would trade the #1 pick but also IF they did this they would be insanly stupid

The Redskins just gave up 3 first round picks to get up to #2 and draft a QB. If the Colts take someone other than Luck or RGIII, they should be resoundingly mocked, while the Vikings should start jerking off.

You're stupid. They let Manning go because they wanted Luck...not so they could address other needs. If that was the case they would have kept Peyton and been a 10-11 win team.

Why in the world does everyone think a ROOKIE would be a better choice than a young QB who has been learning under a SB-winning star, started a couple of games, setting a franchise passing record in one of them?

Better question: Why in the world would the Colts want Flynn over Manning?

Because Flynn probably has a decade left. Also, he wasn't due a $28 million signing bonus this year. In terms of pure football Manning>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Flynn>>>Luck

But when you factor in the business side of the NFL,
Flynn>>>>>>Luck>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Manning

no, they let Manning go, because they can draft Luck. They would have been lucky to win 6-8 games with PM last year and that roster. It was a bad, aging team.

Exactly. So why not take the better QB, and then trade that number-one pick to get a shitload of other quality players?

Its called upside. Luck has more of it, or did you not notice how Matt Flynn is not getting a lot of FA offers?
