Just finished reading this entire thread. Nice work, fellows.

My 10-year old son and I will be doing a 3 day hike in Sequoia National Park at some point.

We hike out one morning, set up camp somewhere, and the return 2 days later. Nothing difficult...I will have plenty of questions.

Get some bear bags and read up on camping in bear country.

Got to keep your sleeping area and food prep/eating areas separate. Roger and LSUinNW could probably give you some good pointers on that.
