First episode is online now (if you look for it, you'll find it) , and holy shite is it incredible. It bridges the old and new seamlessly and takes everything that made the previous series and makes it even better (humor isn't quite as childish as the last one was either). The set up for Republic City is done almost flawlessly and the animation, sound, and epicness of the series blows the previous series out of the water (a hell of an accomplishment). The series seems far more cinematic than the previous series and I'd put its animation against pretty much any film Disney has made (not quite to Miyazaki's level, but you'd need an even bigger budget for that). The evolution the universe has taken is great and seems to take place in a 1920s like atmosphere. They also really stepped up the bending in this.

I can tell I'm going to really like the characters in this show. Korra I feel is going to be a better and more relatable Avatar than Aang was. Plus her introduction where she busts in is just great. Tenzin is reserved and conflicted about his role in the universe and the heavy burden laid down to him by his father to protect Republic City and his reincarnation. So far I like the kids alot as well and strikingly remind me of my younger cousins when they were much younger. And the villain looks like he's going to be just awesome and he's creepy as hell.

That is my fairly spoiler-free review of the episode, and a lot of people on this board need to catch up and watch the previous series. Sure this series isn't completely dependent on the last series, but it will ruin a lot of it if you plan to go back and watch the previous series. I really think that this series will almost indisputably become the greatest animated series of all time (at least as far as dramatic animation is concerned), and the board really needs to watch it.

You've got me pumped up now. I really liked the original series, so much that I was planning on re-watching it prior to starting on this new one. Where is it online?

That scene was pretty awesome. Thanks for the heads up for it being online early. The tease with Katara starting to tell a story about Zuko's mom is pretty cruel. Would have been nice to see a grown up cameo from Sokka and Toph, but oh well. Agree with you on Aang's grandkids, pretty amusing.

The first series is one of the best finished animated series ever anyway. Most series manage to drop the ball and fizzle away with a planned ending, but Avatar had a very nice contained arc that finished nicely.

Landshark

Been looking forward to reading your synopsis on this show. I really cannot wait to watch this new series. I'm probably going to buy the old one.

And I'm sure M. Night can't wait to put this story on the screen and mess it all up. Korra will be Korray since he's Asian and he wants them pronounced the proper way.

Let me say that I was really excited before reading this thread, but the hype in here has me cautiously optimistic now. Lot of hype based on 1 ep, which I admittedly have not seen yet.

1 ep

Haven't read the thread since I want to avoid any spoilers, and this has probably already been mentioned, but if you aren't going to watch it online the show premieres on Nickelodeon on April 14.

Bump for LSUmreed. Let's keep the posts centralized here.

And how fricking badass would it be to take a Polar Bear Dog for a walk? Pretty fricking awesome. Definitely the one fictional pet I would want if I could have it.

Wow, shite just got real. Best episode yet. Tarlok seems to be someone who needs to be taken down even more so than Amon does at this point. The only bender who would stand a chance against Tarlok right now is Katara herself, or if Korra becomes a fully realized Avatar of course. I don't see how you can't kill that guy though. He obviously can't be imprisoned if he can bloodbend his own guards at will.

The battle between them was probably the best battle in the show yet, despite it being so short. Loved how they used the bending with the car chase as well. Looks like next week will be flashbacks to the old Team Avatar. Very much looking forward to it.

I loved the original series, haven't got a chance to check into this one.

Excited to start watching after hearing so many good things about it.
