re: Keeneland in Lexington the same weekend as LSU baseball

Keenland is excellent. Pay the few extra bucks for the club house/grandstand area, rather than just going GA.
The food is good, the scenery is excellent, the location is top notch... and I have no idea what the above poster is talking about re: handicapping at Keenland.... it's a Top Notch breending and training facility and virtually every one of the KY Derby trainers has horses there running during the meet.
They are only open for the Spring meet and Fall meet --- 3 weeks each, that's it.
Top of the line venue.
As for tours --- just up the road is Labrot and Graham --- makers of Woodford Reserve.... top notch tour and facility. In Frankfort about 25 miles up the road is Buffalo Trace and of course you mentioned Maker's Mark ---- I have not done that one, but I do recommend the other two from personal experience.
Enjoy --- I too was dissappointed that UK dropped off the 2012 football schedule.... that was going to be my "road trip" game for this year.
