I could never tell how much of his attitude was the steroids - if that part of the issue then maybe he'll mellow out

I think he had anger issues in general. Steroids and alcohol just made it worse.

Getting suspended because you flipped out and went after a few Moo State idiots in the stands DOES tend to burn bridges.

Are you implying that he definitely wasn't on roids at LSU?
Also, I saw the picture on twitter this weekedn of Alomar, Baerga, Belle, Hargrove and Lofton at Spring Training. Lofton looks like he can still get after it.

I played against the Belle twins in high school. "Albert" (he was Joey back then) was a lunatic already in hs, and his brother couldn't have been nicer. Almost Jeckyl/Hyde.
RIP Terry

one of my favorite players, ever.

Joey didn't take shite from anyone. He had serious rage issues. Maybe having kids and being a full time dad has mellowed the dude out.
I used to think "man, that guy is literally going to beat someone to death on the street one day for looking at him wrong"

I knew them when they were 10-12 years old. Both incredibly nice kids.

I knew both of his parents. His mom is where the anger issues came from. She was tall, walked with a limp and hated white people. His dad was a very easy going guy.

July 15, 1994: Chicago manager Gene Lamont accuses Albert of using a corked bat. Umpire Dave Phillips confiscates the bat and stores it in the ump's dressing room. In 1999 it is revealed that Jason Grimsley crawled 100 feet along a ceiling and dropped down into the dressing room to switch Albert's bat with one of Paul Sorrento's. After the game, the switch is discovered and Indians then turn over one of his other bats, which is found to contain cork. He has since stuck to his story that the White Sox stole his bat and corked it
