My 16 year old son is interested in tournament bass fishing but we're having trouble determining the path he should take. His school doesn't have a club which we understand is prerequisite of fishing any SAF tournaments. Thought maybe the OB could help. TIA

Draft a petition and have him bring it to school, I'm sure all of his friends would sign it. The school may consider it

We're waiting on a reply from the SAF as they claim to allow home schooled kids to fish their tournaments. Another issue is his proposed partner is from a different school which also has no club. I'd also prefer his school time be spent on academics and not organizing a club and bylaws.

That's understandable, but if our school had a fishing club/team I wouldn't have skipped so much damn class. I swear, the spawn got me grounded every year

I've already pointed out the implications that being grounded could have on his tournament career.

My cousin does the youth BASS tournaments in south LA. He enjoys them and it seems like they are run well.

I had some friends who did the youth BASS when they were younger. They liked it.

Do you have a link? I haven't found anything on BASS except adult tournaments.

ETA I found junior BASSmaster site but no tournament schedules or info on participating other than starting your own chapter. I'm sure there's a local chapter nearby after all it is B.A.S.S.

We got in touch with a youth director for FLW and also got contact info for some local BASSjunior chapters. Thank y'all for all the help.
