I don't think Miles is dumb enough to not start/play Mettenberger. The fans have been starved of decent quarterback play for sometime now. We all want him in at quarterback. Miles knows this. Even his isn't bizarre or crazy enough to meddle with it.

We ARE talking about the coach that kept running one of the lowest ranked QB's in the NCAA out there, so anything is possible. SO ready to see the position upgrade-even mediocre would be an improvement.

I think we'd all love to believe that, but until he proves otherwise, the presumption has to be that Miles will find a way to frick up the QB position.

In four years, he couldn't fix the problem. Even when the problem fixed itself with Jefferson's suspension, he wouldn't let it stay fixed.

The only QB decisions Les Miles has made in seven years as head coach that weren't total disasters were starting Jamarcus Russell over Flynn in 2005 and 2006 and starting Flynn over Perrilloux in 2007. Every other decision he has ever made about QBs has been a complete disaster. That he can still manage to win a lot of games despite this usually crippling weakness is a credit to the other aspects of his coaching, but no coach can get to the very top of his profession without at least some rudimentary ability to handle a QB situation. Hopefully, someday, Miles will show some.

Miles has, not just through his actions, but through public proclamation said he makes the decisions not the fans. So for you to make the statement above shows that you haven't been paying attention. He has always done what HE wanted to and will continue to do so.
