Why have they not created a new series since Enterprise. I have been watching DS9 on Netflix and it got me wondering. I remember being in high school and watching TNG Sunday nights.

Enterprise just did so poorly.

I'm sure we will eventually see a New Next Generation, but I hope they drop the temporal cold war stuff.

Because J.J. Abrahms hit the reset button and it was awesome.

It'll be this movie and probably the third before they even attempt it. the good news is CGI technology has advanced to where we can move the TNG timeline forward another 100 years (a la the ST online MMORG storyline) which is actually a fun read. it's detailed as hell, part of the storyline in the game is that The Doctor has become a leading advocate in hologram rights.

I always thought they could have based a series off of Riker becoming the captain of the Titan in the last TNG movie.

The main story arc is irrelevant. Star Trek just needs:

- A strong leader
- An alien or robot officer that the crew trusts completely but Star Fleet doesn't
- A hot chick officer
- A weekly threat, be it military foe, contentious first contact, space anomaly, or really weird and big alien mistaken for a space anomaly.
- Cool technology concept that the mainstream has never really seen in action before (transporter, replicator, holodeck)

This is not at all a dig at Star Trek, it's a good formula, especially when well executed.
