I am looking to book a guided tuna trip this year (possibly through one of the outfits in venice). Can get away just about any time of the year. Should I book one for one of the upcoming months (March/April) or wait till summer? A important factor would probably be the other fish species that are being caught at the time.

I'd suggest Capt. Eddie Burger in Venice. Never been on a charter but this dude is amazing

the biggest tuna i've ever caught were this time of year. during low flow of the river blue water comes in closer which means the tuna come in closer. This generally occurs during the colder months. longer run which can potentially mean shorter fishing time in the warmer months.

i'd go now.

I'll never forget that one time a big sport fisher decided that he was going to pull baits right through the middle of everyone. The radio got full of profanity very, very quickly.

Its bad enough when you have to drop anchor and chase a big Tuna thru that crowd..........

The Lump does produce tho, we had a best of 167 YF and 108 Wahoo there a few years ago..........
