I agree that TJ doesnt necessarily produce a style of basketball that it "fun" to watch, but he does allow players to make plays and with the type of players we have it is a fun style of basketball.

That's what I love. It causes controversy, but it shows trust. If only he cracked down a bit more without ruining the philosophy, then that would be a visual improvement for the fans.

I feel good about LSU's aggressiveness this season, that this is a home game, and that LSU knows how close they came last time. I hope we start off as well as we did against Bama and come out confident after halftime.

I didn't see that coming... Maybe people are starting to think LSU has something going/ State on the fall. Either is good for LSU cause we need to take State's bid to the NCAA. I dont think we get left out if we have a 1st round bye in the SEC Tourney

Good way to put it Burkett.

IMHO Trent's got to find a bit more of a happy medium between trusting/not crushing confidence and allowing shot selection and decisions of offense that kill us with little consequence seemingly.

He's just erring too much on the side of trusting in my view. Trust is a two-way street.

And, by this, you mean 'I'll trust my players to make plays if they trust I'll put their asses on the bench for a little bit if they screw up.'

I understand the strategy and wouldn't have a problem with it if we had an elite defense...but we don't, we have an above average D. If it was the caliber of Tony Bennett's defenses or Alabama's D, then I could understand. But we aren't good enough defensively to give the players complete freedom on offense.

The important thing in this game is to NOT get dominated on the boards.

If we can get some fricking rebounds, I think we'll be in it til the end.

I completely agree this is very important. We got outrebounded in the first game by 20! If we can get some boards this time around, which I think we can do, then we have a damn good chance of pulling out the victory.

We need Turner and Stringer to combine for 25 PPG to be more consistent.

Hamilton and JOB will get their combined 30 every game, it's a lack of production from either Turner or Stringer which hurts us.

20+ points from Turner and Stringer
30+ points from Hamilton and JOB
7 points from Hickey
15+ points from the bench (Isaac, Warren, Ludwig & Courtney)

We won't need 72+ points to beat MSU imo... This game stays in the mid 60s

Im not worried about where the points come from. I am worried about playing tough defense and not allowing Moultrie to get 30 or for Bost to control the pace of the game.

I think we will get the offense. I dont care about who it comes from, just give me solid defense and the O will come.

"Why the hell would you take that shot?" is a far cry from "You're a horrible shooter." If you can't get guys to stop taking contested 26 footers without hurting their confidence, you need to find a new profession.

LSU's problem under TJ hasn't been defense. It's been a general inability to score. I worry every game where the points will come from. We all know that the team has guys who CAN score, it just that for (insert reason here) they don't do it consistently game in and game out.

It's where I hope our game-to-game point breakdown would fall.

Biggest killer is the inability for Stringer and Turner to both put points up in the same game.

This is a game thread so I am strictly speaking on this game. I dont think we have trouble scoring against Miss St. They have a defense efficiency of 160th and we had a ton of trouble getting stops/rebounds. I think we do fine on offense, but I am worried about us stopping them.

I'm getting more and more pumped for this game... Hate the late start because it's an extra hour (or two depending on the game) than we usually have to wait

I like it. LSU was having trouble getting people here for the 6pm start due to work and I would rather the game be on national TV than not on national TV... The 8pm game gives people time to get to the game after work.
