with the newer honda/suzuki/yamaha 4 strokes out (let's arbitrarily say post-2005 models), how many hours on the meter makes you start raising eyebrows or could turn you off from interest in a used purchase?

note, I am talking about 150-200 hp range, 6 cylinder models.

First, why are they selling it, secondly, is it off of a commercial vessel?

Anything more than 2500 should be looked at carefully. More important to me would be a VERY low hour engine. I'd rather a 2006 with 1200 hours than with 200.

no, not off of a commercial vessel. I am really talking generalities here in terms of used boat searching around S. LA, not about a particular vessel.

I dont know about how many hours are too many but as far as used boats I would look for a motor that has between 70 and 120 hours per year. This is your avg recreational use.
