I recently bought a PS3 and had it connected to my Vizio via the AV cables for the last month. I ordered a HDMi cord with a target gift card. Been trying to figure it out for a while. I had it working a game of COD:Black ops and then it said not supported(like usual). I keep going through the same thing posted on the playstation website.
TV: Vizio E370L
PS3: bought it in January
HDMi cord: 3ft. Phillips High Speed HDMi
Update: Went in town this weekend and switched the hdmi cables with my dads direct tv. Mine was 15 bucks and his was a Monster cable from Wal-Mart. His now works great. Really weird, but it works..haha

hook both wires up
figure out which one is working, and change your ps3 video out to hdmi
assume you tried all this though

Yeah. I tried all of that. It says "not supported" every time I do it. It worked great yesterday when I did it the second time.

is your TV internet capable? like can you plug a network cable in and update the software for the TV?

Is the Vizio by chance only 720p or 1080i and the PS3 is set to 1080p ?

hooking up the HDMI while the ps3 is off and then holding down the power button to do a video reset would fix the resolution problem though

I don't think that you're this or at least using it properly.

I have seen this before, apparently the ps3 is not smart enough to decide on its own what to output to. For some reason it does not like cable changes at all.

so are you saying to force it to choose 1080p and it should work?

No i tried hooking up a ps3 to one of the sammy flatscreens at work and it had never been hooked up by hdmi. it came on screen never came, had to do a reset on it since it had never been hooked up through hdmi.
I was trying to be snarky about the xbox will autodetect what type of cable it is using but oh well

it is weird how some things just wont work together.
i had an old HDTV that broke so i was forced back to SD. i recently bought a new HDTV and when i hooked it up everything was fine. i have never had to do a video reset on the ps3
but it really puzzles me that this guy is having trouble

Did you find that audio setting we were discussing the other day?
Posted on 2/7/12 at 5:17 pm to MaroonDawg
it should work if he goes back to the old cable and then does a system reset before putting the hdmi cable back in, i think that is what i had to do
