Fair to say that Saints are free-agent geniuses, but missed some 1st rds?

Just considering 1st round picks. Were these guys worthy of a 1st round pick, did they have a great impact on our team?:
2011 Mark Ingram (No, but too early to tell)
2011 Cameron Jordan (No, but too early to tell)
2010 Patrick Robinson (started poorly but came on strong throughout the course of the 2011 season imo.)
2009 Malcolm Jenkins (No, was a liability this year's playoffs)
2008 Sedrick Ellis (No, I never did like this pick)
2007 Robert Meachem (No, always injured and always beat out by lesser-heralded players)
2006 Reggie Bush (No, had some good times but overall a No)
Regarding our free agent decisions:
Brees
Sproles
etc.
/
Free agency is easier and more sure-fire because you've already seen the player in action in the NFL. You basically know what you're getting. However, its just my opinion that we've missed on our 1st round picks.
edit: editted for shitty title. I meant to discuss our 1st round not accuse our beloved saints of being poor drafters.

Why do only 1st rounders? If you did this to almost every other team in the NFL I bet you it looks similar.

Viewing success of a draft specifically by the first round is quite STUPID. Especially when the team being evaluated has DRAFTED Colston, Evans, Nicks, Graham...all some of the very best players in the NFL

2009 Malcolm Jenkins (The best and most important player on this list, a great safety and a huge reason we won the Superbowl as a CB)
2008 Sedrick Ellis (Hasnt been terrible, has potential, couldve been the scheme or the DC, def overpaid though)
2007 Robert Meachem (Stretches the field, has had some great catches, Redskins game fumble, not a terrible receiver)
2006 Reggie Bush (Absolutely yes. The guy was an incredible punt returner and a huge reason we won the Cardinals game and made it to the Superbowl. We replaced him with Sproles(who is better), but i believe he was worth the pick)

You picked arguably the best 2 free agents we ever picked up. Weve made some terrible free agent decisions and as for being terrible at drafting players- Colston, Graham, Nicks, Evans, and a few that you listed, just to name a few

Laziness.
But if you look at Falcons, I would say their 1st round picks were better: (does not account for draft position though)..
2005 Roddy White
2007 Jamaal Anderson
2008 Ryan, Matt
2008 Sam Baker
2009 Peria Jerry
2010 Sean Wetherspoon
2011 Julio Jones

2008 Sam Baker - who?
2009 Peria Jerry - who?

Not mad at all, quite the contrary actually. You asked to be enlightened.

You really think Colston is better than Roddy White? I respectfully disagree but I love Colston dont get me wrong. And Ryan is solid, he's a douche but he's a solid NFL QB.

Actually he was worth a first round pick, based on over all ranking. That's from some one that doesn't like taking a RB in the first round
Problem with the Ingram pick is the cost to get that pick.

Fail

The draft is about being given the choice of who falls to you sometimes. Matt Ryan fell into the falcons' lap. Same for Reggie with the Saints. A lot of the Saints 1st round picks aren't impressive but when you look at surrounding picks, it's hard to really say decisively "this woulda been a better pick". The real money makers are at the later rounds and all. I get more upset with deals for compensation gained or lost with trades of picks. Also, keying in on the right UDFA is also a crucial piece of the puzzle. Does that credit go to FA or the draft?
